The Camp Lake occurrence is located about 14.3 kilometres south- south west of Camp Lake, approximately 2.7 kilometres east of Upper Campbell Lake.

The area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks consisting of basaltic lava, pillow lava, breccia and tuff of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation. These have been intruded by granodiorite, quartz diorite, granite and quartz monzonite of the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite to the east.

Locally, altered and brecciated granodiorites and basalts host magnetite-chalcopyrite mineralization as exposed in shallow sub-crops and trenches.

In 1983, a select grab sample (61918) assayed 10.3 grams per tonne silver and 6.2 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 11921).

In 2003, four selective grab samples yielded an average of 1.74 per cent copper, 0.0076 per cent molybdenum, 0.477 grams per tonne gold, 6.8 grams per tonne silver and 29.7 per cent iron with peak values of 3.977 per cent copper, 0.0244 per cent molybdenum, 0.706 grams per tonne gold, 11.4 grams per tonne silver and 32.2 per cent iron (Assessment Report 27717).

In 2004, the best intercept obtained during the drilling was in the first hole (BCL-04-01), from 33.2 to 47.9 meters down-hole, which intersected 14.6 meters of 0.057 per cent copper, 0.015 grams per tonne gold and 4.74 per cent iron (Assessment Report 27717).

In 1982 and 1983, Rich Lode Gold completed programs of prospecting and geochemical sampling on the area after the discovery of a piece of float quartz vein containing native gold was discovered from the rock fill on the western approach to a bridge crossing between Upper Campbell and Upper Quinsam lakes. The float sample assayed 3301.4 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 11105). During 1997 through 2003, MinLand Resources explored the area as apart of the Bacon Lake (MINFILE 092F 256) property. In 2004, Better Resources Ltd. optioned the Camp Lake property from Minland Resources and conducted a program of geological mapping, minor hand trenching, rock and soil sampling, a ground-based magnetic survey and 576 metres of drilling in 7 holes. This work identified a number of copper-gold-magnetite showings in volcanic rocks, local to the main occurrence. In 2011 and early 2012, Compliance Energy Corporation completed a program of geochemical sampling, geological mapping and prospecting on the area. This work was centred on the Spur, Junction, Champagne and Savage occurrences to the east.
